Retro Baby

I've just received a Facebook invite to an event which is so brilliant I can't believe I've never heard of one before! It's called The Vintage Kilo Sale, and the idea is that for £15 (plus a very reasonable £1 entry fee) you can get a Kilo of clothing. A Kilo. Fill a bag up with around 4-5 items (they suggest this is roughly how much you can get for a Kilo), weigh, and pay! Organised by Glass Onion Vintage Wholesalers, the event will have around 3 tonnes of clothing for sale! Here's their promotional video so you can get a better idea of it. The event is at Hackney Downs Studios next Saturday, so give it a google, and head along!

In the same line of thought (although unfortunately less of a bargain) I recently picked up these Russel & Bromley brown leather shoes from a car boot sale. As the woman said she'd only worn them once, and had them reheeled as soon as she'd bought them to prevent the soles wearing down, I was willing to part with a bit more money than I wanted to, although £20 still seemed a bit steep. That's until I started wearing them! They are possibly my most favourite shoes I've ever owned! (Which is impressive, as I refused to take off my Carvela prom shoes for at least two days after the event...) I've been wearing these with thick socks as I'm still wearing them in & don't fancy getting any blisters, but they're a great height - I love a heel, but I'm not ridiculously short so anything higher than a few inches is really unacceptable for general wear. :-)
I love hearing about vintage clothing events or just great finds, so comment & let me know about your favourite buys & any events you've been to/looking forward to!
