About Town...

Norwich is quite a small city, but there is still absolutely masses to do & see. Although I complain about it a fair bit, I actually really love living here, because it's close to London & the sea, there's a mix of things to do, and it's really easy to get about. Some suggestions for good to stuff in Norwich....

Music
Although the UEA LCR has some really good acts, I love the waterfront & norwich arts centre as music venues. They have such a great mix of different performers, & the atmosphere is better (I think) as their capacities are smaller. Also, both are in the city so it's good for going to a gig and then popping out after!
Theatre
The Theatre Royal puts on dance, literary and theatre performances, so there's always something for everyone! My mum takes us to so much stuff; I've seen Michael Bourne's 'Swan Lake', the West End production of 'Chicago', as well as plays like 'An Inspector Calls' and Agatha Christie's 'The Hollow'. The Playhouse is a really good venue too, especially as it has the added bonus of a really lush bar, where you can sit outside for ages overlooking the river :-)
Food
Frank's Bar is one of my favourite places to eat in Norwich, or pop in for a cup of tea & cake as a shopping break. The food is delicious, and you can play with their board games which is really cute! They also do free screenings of films on Sunday afternoons, which is a really lovely idea. Louis' Deli is really conveniently placed on my walk home from town, so it's pretty inevitable that I end up grabbing one of their delicious cakes or ready meals. Their food is so tasty, reasonably priced and freshly made. They also do language free afternoons where you can just go along and join in conversations in French, Spanish, Italian & German. (They also gave me & ellie some free ciabatta last week, definitely a good way to lure in customers!)
Shops
As well as two malls, a market and an arcade, the Norwich Lanes are great for shopping. There's some really good charity shops, nice cafes and vintage shops. My faves are Goldfinches and Prim, although the church next to Goldfinches also has vintage stalls most Saturdays. Wandering about there's loads of small specialists shops, which are really lovely to browse!

Finally, getting trains from Norwich is so easy; London Liverpool Street is only 1hr 50, Cambridge is 1hr 10, and the coast is about 40 minutes to an hour away, depending on where abouts you're heading :-)
