While Euro 2012 is actually becoming really addictive watching (even my mum has learnt the offside rule!), there's a definite spectrum of acceptability as far as the fashion/merchandise of the event are concerned. Here's some examples!
My Dad genuinely bought one of these fake tattoo football sleeves. At first it was clearly a joke, but he's actually worn it whilst watching the matches, and I think he's growing pretty attached to it. He's even started giving them to friends! There's now a group of middle aged tattoo bearing football fans roaming the streets of Norwich. Thanks Dad. Alongside this, we have a huge England flag lopsidedly hung in our front window, so our whole road can see who we are supporting (not that it would be very hard to figure out surely?). We can't close our curtains because of it, and it makes a red cross across the TV when the sun shines through, which as far as I'm concerned, is definitely not a sacrifice worth making. UNACCEPTABLE.
So while our household don't seem to be doing a very good job of celebrating this event in style, Theo Walcott is definitely on the other end of the spectrum! Firstly there's his brilliant goal in Friday's game against Sweden, but more importantly there's his boots! They say it takes a true man to pull off pink, and from his performance in these beauts I'd say he's definitely earned that title! Whilst some players choose neon yellows and acid greens to make a statement on the pictch, these pink and white Nike's are definitely a more original and interesting choice that had even my mum sitting up to watch! Also they go pretty well with the England strip, definitely a well co-ordinated choice! Finally, some new WAGs are going for a far more acceptable approach to the tournament compared with the stereotypical image of WAGs in England. Whilst Coleen is meticulously made up & dressed, spray tanned and fake eyelashed to perfection, these women are looking far more natural and chic, setting an example that our own WAGs might want to take note from.... ACCEPTABLE!
