Yoga?
So a few months ago, my friend Alex asked me to go to a beginners yoga class with him. At first I thought it sounded like the worst possible idea- staying still, being controlled, and not talking doesn't really come naturally to me. But I went along for a laugh, and actually found it really relaxing! I was surprised at how hard it is; I assumed it was just a lot of breathing and stretches, but you really feel like you're working your whole body, and doing something completely different! Connecting your breath control with some of the movements was really hard, and you can definitely feel it toning and stretching! We finished the beginners course, and have started going to the weekly drop ins which are also great. It's a small class of about 7, and although we do the standard routine, our instructor pushes us so that we were almost doing handstands from crouch position! I never thought I'd be a yoga person, but afterwards I feel so calm and relaxed, as well as feeling like I've really worked out, but in a totally different way to my usual Zumba class! I'd say it's if you're a yoga-virgin, it's definitely worth giving it a go, although going to the complete beginners starter course was really useful, otherwise I don't think I'd have managed it very well! Remember to: Eat a few hours before, wear loose clothing or leggings, paint your toe nails as you have to be barefoot, and go with a friend- you actually end up having quite a laugh! Namaste :-)
