Skin Therapy

In my dreams, I have the dewy complexion of Emma Watson, and silky skin of Kate Moss. Sadly, I am far from having this dream fulfilled, having struggled with sports for most of my teenage years. I've tried many different remedies, from tea tree cleansers to antibiotics, and nothing has been very effective. However, I've finally reached a point of being fed up - I shouldn't have to worry about covering up everyday before I leave the house, or have to remember to apply gels and creams before I sleep every night! So, I'm making an action plan. Instead of loading myself up on more pills (which is so tempting at this point of frustration), I'm going to switch my diet. Here's my action plan for the next few weeks, to see if I see much of an improvement!
Plan
  • Water - I drink loads of water anyway, and constantly have a bottle with me. However, I've decided to increase my standard 2 litres a day to around 3, and cut out any other drink except for one glass of orange juice a day (vital vitamins!). That means no tea, fizzy drinks, nothing. Surely this can't be too bad?!
  • Fish I read on Cosmopolitan.com that fish is a really good way to improve your skin. Luckily I love tuna and salmon, (as well as a cheeky fish finger sandwich), so I'm going to try and swap some fattier red meats for fish this week.
  • Brown Carbs - Wholemeal everything. It says to avoid any processed carbs, but that seems ridiculously difficult, so I'm going to stick to wholemeal bread and pasta, as well as brown rice, and avoid any white carbs.
  • St. Ives - I love this stuff. It's cheap, smells great, and is so nice to use first thing in the morning before applying make up. I'm going to make sure I use this every morning with cold water to clear my skin, and have a good face wash at night to make sure any make up residue is cleared.
  • Sleep! Lack of sleep worsens stress, and this can cause temperamental skin. Luckily I've been getting loads of sleep recently (being back at school has made early nights far more regular an occurrence), but I'm going to try and aim for 10 hours a night. This is definitely ambitious, and will mean more early nights, but for one week I think I can handle it.
  • Fruit - Instead of 5 a day, I'm ramping this up to a compulsory 8 fruit or veg, preferably raw. The vitamins and freshness make me feel better and happier anyway, so it'll just be an added bonus if it helps my skin repair itself!
I'll let you know how I get on, and if I have any breakthroughs! (rather than breakouts...) If you have any tips, please let me know, any help would be appreciated!!X
