Last night my Mumma treated me & took me to see the Northern Ballet's production of The Great Gatsby (with a pre-show dinner at wagamamas nomnom!). I've just finished reading it, and am more than a little excited about the film (Crazy In Love's on the soundtrack, Carey Mulligan is always wonderful, Tiffany's did the jewellery - what is not to love!), but was excited to see how they'd manage to portray the story just through dance as there's a fair few flashbacks and intertwining stories... I'm always really impressed by the Northern (their Wuthering Heights was the first ballet I ever saw, and I've been a convert since!) - their costumes, staging and music is superb. The live orchestra were incredible, and the mixture between classical/emotional pieces and popular songs typical of the period performed live made it really engaging. If you get the chance - go! And I have to say I'm now even more excited for the film..!
I got dressed up in my new shoes & one of my fave dresses for the occasion, and then stuffed myself with Wagamama's noodles and cheesecake. so.good. If you go soon, get the apple/mint/lime/celery juice or jasmine flowering tea - both so refreshing & summery! :-) X
