Death On The Nile

When I was younger, I was a really stubborn reader. Nothing would grab me, and I didn't understand the point of reading really... (This is now hilarious, as I'm hoping to study English at University!) However, when I was about 13, my Aunt gave me some of her old copies of Agatha Christie novels, and I fell in love. Murders and a Belgian man with a moustache were suddenly all I wanted to read about, and I devoured the books in no time, investing in some of my one as well as frequently checking the crime section of the library! Of course, this led onto an addiction to the TV adaptations (David Suchet is a God). My favourite thing on a drizzly afternoon/wintery evening is a blanket, cup of tea, and a Poirot! So, this evening my Mum treated me to a trip to the theatre to see a play of Death On The Nile (a good one to start with if you haven't read any Christie before). Full of yummy wagamama's, we really enjoyed the show. I'd say if you don't know the story already it would be a pretty difficult one to follow, and the disadvantage of only having one set did slightly take away the drama... Also, I missed my main man Poirot a lot! Although the Pastor was a great fill in, wise and thoughtful as needed to crack the case of the murder of a beautiful young heiress whilst on a boat down the Nile... The plot becomes twisted, and eventually a second murder is committed right in front of 4 witnesses! The ending is dramatic, and a great twist to what you expect, as usual with Christie. The scenery of a luxurious boat was great, and the lighting and music were atmospheric but not distracting. I had a great time, and would definitely recommend watching or reading some Agatha Christie :-) X
