Pennies = Pounds, Pounds = Shoes

It's no secret that I like to shop. A lot.. But browsing always leads to trying on, and trying on always leads to 'Well, I do actually really need a new [insert ridiculous/unreasonable item here]', and before I know it my purse is empty, and there's no way I can actually buy real essentials... So, after having to bail on too many meals and afternoons strolling round the emporiums of wonder (shops), I've made a list of a things I'm trying to do more of, to save my cash and make sure I can actually afford what is going to be a very expensive few months...

1. Leave your purse at home! I've started taking only the money I know I'm going to need (if any) for outings, so if I say I'm meeting the girls for a cuppa & catch up, I'll only take £2. That way, I can't be tempted by a biscotti, or magazine on the way home, or quick dash to the Topshop sale in passing...
2. Sign up to voucher websites. I get emails allllll the time from restaurants like Pizza Express, giving me great  deals so that I can actually enjoy my meal without having to order just a side salad and tap water!
3. Start saving pennies. It makes such a difference! I have a piggy bank I recently emptied of coppers & coins, and ended up having about a tenner in there - that's a new top/meal out! If I buy something and having about 40p change, I put it straight in the pot - that way, it builds up quickly, and is change I'd probably end up loosing in my bag or along the way in my wanderings...
4. Get shop smart. If you don't desperately need an item of clothing, wait for the sales! Think - do I really, actually need this/will it actually go with anything/could I find it somewhere cheaper? Look online for better deals websites, and check eBay. Also, if applicable, use student discount! That 10% off adds up...
5. Plan ahead - this is my massive downfall.. I never really think ahead of the next three or four days, so if I know I've got something coming up in a few weeks, instead of saving in preparation, I automatically think 'It doesn't matter, I've got ages'. I've started realising that doesn't really work, so now if I know there's a birthday or event coming up, I'm starting to save up a little in advance....

If you have any advice to help me in my money saving mission, please comment! Hope this was slightly useful if anyone else is as financially incapable as me! X
