Behind The Times
My friend Alex thinks I'm probably the only person who still buys CD's and uses a paper diary. Wrong as he may be, Amazon today fulfilled all my anti-technology loves by delivering a Cath Kidston 2013 diary (Win!) and an old Mystery Jets CD. People tell me CD's get scratched and broken way too easily, and all my music gets transferred to my computer anyway, so what's the point? They're so wrong. I never, ever through away a CD, and because of that I've ended up with a hilariously varied & odd collection that I love! In this particular stack I have classic Madonna, next to The Strokes and Little Comets, above Corrinne Bailey Rae and Metronomy - it's a wierd and wonderful selection but whenever I fancy listening to something different I just browse through and find something! My treasured classics include Elvis, Michael Jackson, & ABBA greatest hits (as a child, I was possibly the worlds biggest superfan of ABBA. I had the outfits, I knew the routines, I wanted to be Swedish.), while I've got a really odd number of dance classics/hits of 2002 etc. with some amazing/hilarious tunes! Charity shops are ace for picking up cheap albums (I got Will Smith's greatest hits, made my summer!), or on Amazon you can get loads second hand. Keep your CD's! The cheesier & more embarrassing the better. Me & Ellie found a Jonas Brothers the other day, an incredible afternoon dancing was had. My Dad has three full bookshelves he's been contributing to since he was my age; I hope one day I have the same with CD's!
