Julius Caeser

'There is a tide in the affairs of men, Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune'

This week the Royal Shakespeare Company are in Norwich performing Julius Caeser, and it seems like everyone is rushing to get to the show - and I don't blame them at all! My dad took me along on Tuesday night and it was incredible. Having sped read the play the day before, I was really interested to see how it would be interpreted. Set in Africa, we walked in to a theatre full of African drumming and dancers, which created a great atmosphere! The actors were incredible; I became totally absorbed in the changing character of Brutus, and Mark Anthony was as powerful and moving as I felt he should be. The set was simple but really effective in changing from central Rome, to Brutus's garden, to an army camp and so on. Adjoa Andoh's Portia was amazingly fierce and strong, definitely an inspiring character and played so well. I could gush about it for ages, but I'll just say that if you get the opportunity to see this production, go! You won't be disappointed.
